Halton Healthcare is a leading Ontario hospital system serving a growing and diverse population across the communities of Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills. Recognized for clinical excellence, innovation, and a strong commitment to patient- and family-centred care, Halton Healthcare continues to advance its role within an integrated and digitally enabled health system.
Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Corporate Services & Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President, Digital Health & Chief Information Officer (VP) plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the organization’s digital, information, and technology strategy. This role oversees an operating budget exceeding $35 million and a portfolio consisting of approximately 200 employees. With the support of 3 direct reporting Directors, and 10 indirect reporting Managers, the VP will lead cybersecurity, help desk, telecommunications, IT applications, networking and infrastructure, informatics, biomed, health records, coding as well as registration and admitting for the emergency departments.
Building on a strong foundation of enterprise systems and clinical informatics, the VP will lead Halton Healthcare through a critical and highly visible phase of digital transformation. Central to this journey is the implementation of a new hospital information system, representing a once-in-a-generation opportunity to redefine how care is delivered, experienced, and measured across the organization and beyond. This transformation will enable more seamless, data-driven, and person-centred care, while positioning Halton Healthcare as a leader in digital innovation within Ontario. The VP will champion the adoption of interoperable systems and emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance care delivery, improve clinical and operational outcomes, and elevate both patient and provider experience. In partnership with the Performance Analytics team, the VP will also play a key co-lead role in advancing a mature, actionable analytics ecosystem that supports real-time decision-making and system-wide improvement.
This is a highly visible and influential leadership role, with regular engagement at the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and across provincial, regional, and Ontario Health tables. The VP will play a critical role in advancing Halton Healthcare’s position within the Ontario Health ecosystem and, in particular, within the Connected Care Halton Ontario Health Team. Operating within this evolving regional framework, the VP will help shape and enable integrated models of care that span hospital, primary care, community, and home care partners by driving alignment, standardization, and shared digital infrastructure to support more connected patient journeys across the continuum of care.
A collaborative and strategic partner, the VP will actively cultivate strong relationships with peer organizations, regional partners, and system stakeholders to advance shared digital priorities and collective outcomes. Internally, they will work closely with clinical and operational leaders to understand business needs and co-design solutions that improve workflow, access, and care delivery. They will balance innovation with effective risk management, ensuring robust cybersecurity, privacy, and system reliability, while advancing a modern, agile, and scalable digital ecosystem. With a strong commitment to people leadership, the VP will foster a high-performing, inclusive team culture and build digital capability across the organization.
Qualifications
The successful candidate is an accomplished, forward-thinking digital and information leader with a proven ability to translate strategy into measurable impact. They offer deep expertise in leading enterprise digital transformation in healthcare, including extensive experience with leading electronic health record systems from implementation to optimization, and a strong understanding of how data, technology, and innovation drive high-quality, safe, and equitable care. Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, the VP is an exceptional communicator and influencer, demonstrates strong political acumen and is able to engage effectively with clinicians, staff, executives, partners, and the Board.
