About the Company
We're looking for a Mechanical Technologist to join our team in Mississauga.
Your Responsibilities
- Strong mechanical problem-solving and conceptual design skills; able to take a high-level idea or machine concept and independently determine mechanisms, components, and manufacturing approach
- Proven ability to design mechanical equipment with minimal supervision
- Advanced SolidWorks proficiency (parts, assemblies, drawings, configurations)
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, GD&T, and drafting standards
- Practical knowledge of machining, fabrication, welding, and mechanical assembly
- Detail-oriented, hands-on, and solutions-focused mindset
- Effective communicator with engineering and production teams
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
Key Responsibilities SolidWorks Design & Drafting
- Create 3D models, assemblies, and production drawings
- Apply GD&T and internal drafting standards
- Maintain drawing accuracy, revision control, and organized documentation
Engineering & Equipment Design
- Design custom mechanical equipment, tooling, jigs, fixtures, and components
- Develop complete mechanical solutions from high-level concepts or functional requirements
- Support prototype builds and incorporate design-for-manufacturing and assembly feedback
- Participate in design reviews and technical decision-making
- Identify opportunities to improve cost, performance, durability, and manufacturability
Production & Shop Support
- Support machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly activities
- Provide drawing clarification and technical guidance during builds
- Troubleshoot mechanical, fit, alignment, motion, and functional issues
- Contribute to continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and workflows
Performance Expectations
- Produce accurate, production-ready designs with minimal revision
- Take ownership of mechanical design solutions from concept through implementation
- Communicate clearly and consistently with the Manager
- Maintain controlled, well-organized design documentation
- Support projects through design, build, testing, and refinement
- Contribute to continuous improvement and standardization efforts

Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field
- 4+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, drawings)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, GD&T, and tolerancing
- Practical knowledge of machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly processes
- Proven mechanical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing / shop-floor environment
- Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
- Clear communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams
