Casual - Potential shifts are 7AM-3PM, 3-11PM, 11PM-7AM
Position Overview: The RN-Shift Supervisor provides professional care to residents, and supervises relevant staff within the home during an assigned shift and ensures there is adequate staffing for all shifts not immediately accessible by the scheduler. The position works as a cohesive team member to complete all RAI-MDS documentation in order to maximize funding. All work shall be done in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Home, Resident Bill of Rights, applicable legislation and regulations, corporate policies and procedures and the collective agreements.
Key Accountabilities/Activities:
Residents % of Time Spent: 75%
· Provide professional nursing care, dispensing and administering medications in accordance with corporate policy, physicians’ orders, established standards and recognized nursing practice.
· Assessments as required and within scope of practice.
· Provide accurate health care teaching and disease management advice is provided working collaboratively with physicians and within CNO and scope of practice guidelines.
· Assist the physician in diagnostic and therapeutic measures
· Participates in the timely completion of RAI/MDS documentation to ensure current, pertinent, consistent, individualized resident care
· Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care consistent with Shalom’s Mission, Vision, Values and the Resident Bill of Rights
· Supervises and assists with meal service.
Qualifications Required:
· RN Diploma or equivalent
· Current membership in the College of Nurses
· Current (within 2 years) CPR
· AIS competency
· Demonstrated supervisory experience
· Previous experience working with the elderly and the ability to communicate in Dutch as well as English are definite assets
· Demonstrated proficiency in operation and use of a computer, related technologies and software required for the role(s)
· Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
· Long Term Care experience preferred
