Hotel Maintenance Manager

About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, hands-on, and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the day-to-day maintenance and engineering operations of our hotel. The successful candidate will ensure that the hotel’s building, guest rooms, equipment, mechanical systems, and public areas are maintained to a high standard while providing a safe, comfortable environment for our guests and team members.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who is organized, proactive, and able to identify and resolve maintenance issues quickly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily hotel maintenance and engineering operations.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, mechanical rooms, equipment, and building systems.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest-related maintenance concerns.
- Perform and oversee preventative maintenance programs.
- Ensure guest rooms are properly maintained and ready for occupancy.
- Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, pool equipment, laundry equipment, kitchen equipment, and other hotel systems.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance with approved contractors and service providers.
- Obtain and review quotations for repairs, equipment, and maintenance projects.
- Monitor maintenance expenses and assist with the department budget.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment servicing.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, fire, building, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular fire and life-safety inspections and ensure deficiencies are addressed promptly.
- Monitor pool and water systems and ensure required testing and documentation are completed.
- Maintain adequate inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts.
- Train, coach, and supervise maintenance staff as required.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with Housekeeping, Front Desk, Sales, and other departments.
- Assist with hotel renovation, improvement, and capital projects.
- Respond to emergencies and after-hours maintenance issues when required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance department and work areas.
- Support hotel quality assurance standards and ensure the property is maintained according to brand requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reduce operating costs, and extend the life of hotel equipment.
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance or engineering experience, preferably in a hotel or commercial property environment.
- Previous supervisory or management experience is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of hotel equipment and systems.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills and ability to maintain maintenance records.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and respond to emergencies when required.
- Valid driver's license is an asset.
- Relevant trade certification is an asset.
