Job Summary:
The Clinical Lead is a key leadership role responsible for administering, overseeing, and coordinating the delivery of high-quality clinical services within our organization. This position ensures the effectiveness of care programs and services while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The Clinical Lead will play a pivotal role in developing and improving clinical programming and will be expected to provide direct support to frontline staff as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Leadership, Administration, and Team Management:
- Provide leadership and oversight related to recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and performance management activities in collaboration with the Program Director and Human Resources.
- Develop and implement related policies, manuals, and procedures as necessary or directed by the Program Director.
- Support the development and implementation of orientation and training initiatives.
- Provide input into medical staff performance, monitor and evaluate staff performance, and offer ongoing constructive feedback.
- Lead team meetings and assist with treatment and wellness planning.
- Coordinate and contribute to the resolution of risk management issues.
- Participate in program activities to promote improvements in youth care and safe program delivery.
- Act as the primary liaison for external stakeholders, including health authority administrators, ministry representatives, funding organizations, and other key partners.
- Assist with administrative duties such as human resources and finance as assigned.
2. Clinical Expertise Related to Assessment and Treatment Offerings
- Utilize clinical expertise to oversee or provide in-service training to staff and healthcare professionals, and collaborate with community service providers.
- Lead the development and implementation of primary care programming, withdrawal management and stabilization programming.
- Oversee the youth’s admission process and ensure frontline staff actively monitor changes and provide support services.
- Coordinate day-to-day clinical operations by supervising staff and assigning work as necessary.
- Direct and coordinate comprehensive assessments of health, social, and psychiatric history for each youth (in collaboration with the wellness team).
- Develop, recommend, and evaluate educational materials.
- Act as a resource for physicians, nursing, and allied health professionals.
3. Scheduling:
- Establish staff schedules to ensure coverage around the clock, 365 days a year, or as required.
- Publish schedules with a minimum of two weeks’ notice to staff.
- Track and approve all leaves, including vacation, sick days, bereavement, and other leaves per the Orca Lelum leave policy.
- Collaborate with wellness center to ensure professional staff (RN’s/ LPN’s) are available and shifts are backfilled as required.
4. Quality Assurance/Improvement:
- Participate in the development of tools, processes, and criteria to continuously evaluate program effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop, review, revise, and update procedures for the service area.
- Maintain program policies and procedures.
- Oversee the documentation of nursing observations and interventions by registered nurses and frontline staff. Prepare monthly or quarterly statistical reports for management as required.
5. Work in collaboration with the various medical doctors and other contracted positions on the medical team.
6. The contractor may be asked to provide additional related services within the scope of this agreement and subject to mutual agreement.
Qualifications & Requirements:
o Registration as a nurse or psychiatric nurse is mandatory.
o Minimum of three years recent related experience in administration and healthcare delivery experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
o Master’s degree preferred.
o Valid First Aid Certificate - Emergency First Aid – Community Care
o Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
o Must consent to a criminal record check.
o Must consent to a prior contact check.
o Good working knowledge and understanding of Coast Salish teachings is an asset.
Skills & Attributes:
o Demonstrated knowledge of current theories, technologies, legislation, and practices in the area of crisis response, mental health, and withdrawal management treatment.
o Understanding of the characteristics and issues involved in the care of youth with serious and persistent mental illness, substance use, and addictions.
o Knowledge of program management principles and treatment center environments. Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
o Ability to handle crisis and crisis intervention.
o Ability to work under stress and pressure.
o Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills – written and oral.
o Ability to effectively use standard computer applications.
