Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Truck Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to transport freight and goods across designated routes. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and efficient delivery, ensuring customer satisfaction and compliance with all transportation regulations. This position operates on local routes, and the successful candidate will be home every night.
Duties
- Safely operate trucks, including heavy-duty and commercial vehicles, to deliver freight to various locations.
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform minor automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to keep vehicles in optimal condition.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety procedures, and company policies during transportation activities.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients regarding delivery schedules and issues.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid CDL license.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and securement techniques.
- Basic automotive repair skills for troubleshooting vehicle issues on the road.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to adhere to tight schedules.
- Physical ability to load/unload freight, lift heavy items, and perform vehicle inspections as required.
