We are currently recruiting for a temporary travel live in 24-hour caregiver to assist a 69 year old private male employer who is a Quadriplegic C4/C5 SCI and who is ventilator dependent with all personal care for the duration of his trip to Chaffey's Lock, Ontario from June 16, 2026 to September 3, 2026.
The employer is a marine engineer and enjoys watching TV, sports racing, water sports, and documentaries as well as boating and fishing.
The ideal candidate will be able to be travel to Ontario for the full duration from mid June to early September.
The candidate must be attentive and prepared to respond to alert signals.
Location:
- Burnaby, BC (Traveling to Chaffey's Lock, Ontario)
Shifts & Hours of Work:
- June 16, 2026 to early September 3, 2026
- 24-hour shifts from 9am-9am
- Employer will be going to a cabin and RV site while away
- Friday, Sunday and Tuesday may be available regularly following the trip
Compensation:
Responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to):
- Physical transfers
- Personal hygiene, bed baths, wound care, dressing and undressing
- Ostomy bag cleaning and changing the bag (Be ready for accidental issues, draining, continuous checking. Leg bag use, maintenance. Bladder flushing, Catheter changing.)
- Ventilator care maintenance: at anytime of the day, documentation, answering alarms, continuous checking of tubing, suction of lungs when required
- Peg line tube: use and maintenance, feeding and medication preparation and administration via peg line
- Responding to alert signals
- Meal preparation and light housekeeping
Required Qualifications:
- Must be willing to travel to Ontario from June 9, 2026 to early September 2026 (you will be gone the full duration)
- Responding to alert signals
- Prop training
- Caregiving experience preferred
- Willingness to train with staff on Hospital Ostomy, Tube feeding, Ventilator and Suctioning. Experience highly preferred
