The Applications Engineer Water/Wastewater is a full-time, on-site role based in Stoney Creek, ON. This position is responsible for supporting the design, configuration, and implementation of wastewater treatment solutions, including process control systems and related applications. Day-to-day responsibilities include working with engineering and project teams to analyze client requirements, select and configure equipment, process design, and prepare technical documentation and drawings. The role involves providing application-level technical support to clients, participating in testing and commissioning activities, troubleshooting system issues, and recommending improvements. The Applications Engineer will also collaborate with software developers and other engineers to integrate hardware, control logic, and software tools, while maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in the Water/Wastewater treatment industry in a Business Development or Engineering capacity with an emphasis on process design
- Strong foundation in Chemical, Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering related to water and wastewater systems, including familiarity with filtration and separation technologies, pumps, motors, instrumentation, and control panels.
- Experience with Technical Support for industrial and/or municipal clients, including troubleshooting field issues, responding to technical inquiries, and providing clear guidance on system usage.
- Knowledge of Software Development concepts or configuration (e.g., control software, SCADA/HMI, or related applications) and ability to collaborate with software teams on system integration.
- Hands-on experience with Testing of equipment and systems, including factory and site acceptance testing, performance verification, and documentation of test results.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering or equivalent practical experience in water/wastewater applications.
- Understanding of water and/or wastewater treatment processes, standards, and applicable regulations is an asset.
- Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to prepare technical reports and present solutions to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work on-site in Stoney Creek, ON, collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams, with occasional travel to client sites as required.
- Professional engineering designation (P.Eng., EIT, or eligibility) is considered an advantage.
- Experience in waste management, landfill and leachate treatment would be a strong asset
