Dishwasher / Kitchen Assistant (Daytime)
Fence & Post is looking for a reliable, hardworking Dishwasher / Kitchen Assistant to join our team. We’re a from-scratch, independent restaurant that takes pride in craftsmanship, quality ingredients, and supporting local producers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a professional kitchen and wants to gain hands-on culinary experience.
Position Details
* Approximately 10:00 a.m. – 4:00/5:00 p.m.
* Daytime hours only
* Consistent schedule
* Opportunity to learn basic kitchen preparation and work alongside experienced cooks
What You’ll Do
* Wash and sanitize dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
* Keep dishwashing and storage areas clean, organized, and efficient.
* Assist cooks with basic food preparation, including portioning, peeling, washing, and organizing ingredients.
* Receive, unpack, and properly store deliveries.
* Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas.
* Help with opening, closing, and daily cleaning duties.
* Sweep, mop, and maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
* Remove garbage, recycling, and compost as required.
* Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
* Support the kitchen team wherever needed to ensure smooth daily operations.

* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks.
* Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 lbs.
* Previous kitchen experience is an asset, but not required—we’re happy to train the right person.
