Job Description
The Forklift Operator/ Yard Worker is responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of materials, maintaining an organized yard and inventory, and ensuring products are properly staged and prepared for outgoing shipments.
Responsibilities
- Safe and efficient loading and unloading of trailers using shunt trucks, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
- Organizing and staging finished goods in the yard
- Frequent heavy lifting of materials
- Movement of materials within the shop to ensure materials are stored in a safe manner
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of all shipping and receiving documents
- Ensure documents are cross-checked with purchase/sales orders for accuracy
- Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor
- Be willing to help the team succeed wherever possible
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in material handling, loading and unloading
- Capable of working outside
- Experience in a manufacturing/warehouse/yard setting
- Experience in the steel industry is considered an asset
- Forklift ticket is an asset with experience running equipment over 30,000lbs
- Overhead crane ticket is an asset
- Safety conscious attitude
- Overtime hours may be required
