Our International Not-for-Profit client seeks a Program Accountant for a two-month, fully remote contract with the possibility of extension. This role is responsible for ensuring strong financial controls, accurate reporting, and compliance of Government of Canada-funded programs.
The Program Accountant’s duties will include:
- Performing project budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and variance analysis
- Monitoring financial performance and provide insights to support strategic decisions
- Ensuring compliance with donor guidelines, contribution agreements, and restricted funding requirements
- Preparing timely financial reports, dashboards, and audit support
- Reviewing transactions, reconciliations, revenue recognition, and internal controls
- Managing financial reporting, due diligence, training, and compliance oversight
- Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field
- CPA or CFA designation preferred; candidates in progress will also be considered
- At least seven years of experience in financial analysis and reporting, ideally in the non-profit sector
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, donor compliance, and government-funded projects
- Working knowledge of Global Affairs Canada funding rules is a strong asset
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with MS Dynamics and financial management systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
