We are currently seeking qualified Oilers to join our Engineering Department. Reporting to the Engineer of the Watch, the Oiler plays an essential role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of the vessel's machinery and engineering systems.
As an Oiler, you will:
- Stand engine room watches while monitoring and servicing machinery and equipment.
- Support Engineers with the safe operation of engine room systems and equipment.
- Assist with maintenance and repairs to machinery, water systems, and sewage systems.
- Maintain lubricating and cooling oil supplies.
- Clean, chip, and paint machinery spaces and ship tanks.
- Maintain machinery logs and operational records.
- Safely use and maintain tools and equipment.
- Immediately report equipment irregularities to the Engineer on Watch.
- Participate in emergency drills and required training.
- Follow all Company policies, procedures, and the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Promote a safe, professional, and respectful workplace.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Valid Candidate Document Number (CDN)
- Seafarer's Medical Certificate
- Engine Room Rating (ERR) Certificate
- STCW Basic Safety
- Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than Fast Rescue Boats)
- Advanced Fire Fighting
- Passenger Safety Management Certificate of Endorsement
- Continuous Certificate of Discharge (Discharge Book)

Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a just-cause safety culture
- Experience working aboard passenger vessels is considered an asset.
- Strong commitment to safe work practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
Successful candidates will complete:
- WHMIS
- Accessibility Training
- Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention Training
This position works rotating shifts in accordance with the Collective Agreement. Work is primarily performed in the vessel's engine room with occasional outdoor duties in varying weather conditions. The role involves:
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Frequent bending and climbing
- Moderate lifting
- Working in hot, cold, and noisy environments
