Launch Homes, together with its affiliated construction divisions — Launch Properties, Wayside Mechanical, and Offset Excavating — is seeking a full‑time Safety Officer to support field operations, regulatory compliance, and site‑level hazard management across multiple active projects in Alberta.
The Safety Officer ensures all workers and subcontractors adhere to OHS legislation, Launch Homes safety programs, and Prime Contractor requirements. This role works closely with site supervisors, project managers, subcontractors, and leadership to maintain safe, compliant, and well‑documented worksites.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site inspections across Launch Homes, Launch Properties, Wayside Mechanical, and Offset Excavating
- Verify compliance with Alberta OHS Code and company safety standards
- Complete hazard assessments, FLHAs, toolbox talks, equipment inspections, and incident documentation
- Support subcontractor onboarding, orientations, and competency verification
- Ensure proper use, inspection, and documentation of fall protection, scaffolding, ladders, and confined‑space equipment
- Monitor excavation safety, trenching requirements, and ground‑disturbance controls
- Review and enforce safe work practices for plumbing and mechanical installations
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective‑action development
- Maintain accurate records and safety documentation
- Provide coaching, guidance, and enforcement to workers and subcontractors
- Support Prime Contractor coordination across multi‑employer worksites
Requirements
- Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
- CRSP designation or working toward CRST/CRSP considered an asset
- Up to 5 years of experience in a Health & Safety–related role
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong team player with superior organizational and project‑management abilities
- Strong work ethic, high level of enthusiasm, and ability to excel in a fast‑paced, flexible environment
- Demonstrated initiative and commitment to positive results
- Excellent knowledge of provincial OH&S legislation
