Description: The Food Service Worker portions, packages and/or serves food items according to menu, diet protocol, portion control and temperature standards within an acute care or continuing care setting. The position is also responsible for washing and putting away dishes and cleaning kitchen and surfaces throughout the kitchen. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE General Support Services Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluency in English. Proficient in basic computer applications required for daily operations. Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Possesses strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to follow directions, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of attention to detail. Physically capable of meeting the demands of the role, including standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting to 60 lbs. Able to work effectively within a continuing care environment while maintaining professionalism and resilience Northern Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Covenant Health currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Travel Expense Reimbursement: Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous food service experience in a continuing care, healthcare, or institutional setting is preferred. WHMIS certification, Food Safe certification, and coursework in customer service are considered strong assets.
