POSITION: Career and Employment Facilitator (CEF)
LOCATION: Provincial- New Brunswick, Canada
REMUNERATION: $27.00
POSITION STATUS: Permanent; Full-Time; 35 hours per week
SERVICE HOURS: Monday to Friday; 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
NOTICE: The nature of the job requires some evening/weekend work
LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY: Reports to Program Manager. The incumbent of this position has a no direct authority over other staff members.
POSITION SUMMARY: This is a person-centered transition service for hard of hearing individuals throughout New Brunswick. The Facilitator will not only be a constant point of contact throughout the student’s high school career, but they will also be providing supports into post-secondary or the workplace, giving student, family, and clients consistent level of service delivery throughout their high school and beyond.
NBDHHS recognizes the importance of having a facilitator who is a first language user to ensure the student has a sense of identity, comfort and ease when going through the transition process.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position requires the ability to function independently and frequently under pressure while managing multiple concurrent clients and deadlines including effectively managing emergency situations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
CASE MANAGEMENT
- Coordinate, manage and monitor student and client case files
- Implement person centered plans to ensure educational, employment and community success
- Ensuring statistics are up to date and meet required deadlines
TRANSITION PLANNING
- Attend and participate in the team and transition meetings
- Support planning and placement decisions
- Identify the appropriate pre-employment modules to support and facilitate learning outcomes
- Facilitate appropriate referrals to programs
- Identify and refer students and clients to the appropriate employment services
- Performs other duties similar in scope and complexity
COORDINATION
- Coordinate in-service training on NBDHHS’s programs and services as requested
- Coordinate with Program Manager regarding referral and intake for the Life Skills Program
COMMUNICATION:
- Keep teachers and administrators up to date on NBDHHS transition information
- Staff in adapting programming to meet transition students and clients’ needs
- Review and discuss achievements and challenges relevant to service delivery or issues with the team
- Effectively communicate with Program Manager, students, clients, stakeholders, team members and professionals in a timely manner
- Ensures all communication (voicemail, email, etc.) is checked and replied to daily
STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS
- Maintain relations with:
- APSEA
- non-profit organisations (National and Provincial)
- EAS service providers
TRAINING:
- Participate in educational opportunities i.e., regional workshops and conferences, etc.
- Stay informed of various community referral process
OTHER DUTIES:
- Attend all weekly huddles, and quarterly staff meetings
- Assist with planning and set up of organization special events – BBQ’s, open house
- Ensure office quarters are secure, clean, and tidy
- Any other duties assigned to you by the Executive Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-Secondary diploma or degree in rehabilitation services, disability studies, social work, education, career development, human resources.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering employment or career services, job coaching or vocational counselling – preferably with Hard of Hearing
- Strong knowledge of hearing loss, communication access methods (spoken language strategies, assistive listening devices, FM/DM systems, CART) and accommodations under provincial/federal disability legislation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to produce clear reports, case notes, and progress updates.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity when working with Deaf and hard of hearing communities.
- Ability to build relationships with employers, educational institutions, and community partners to develop placement opportunities.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for educational and job site visits.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or travel across New Brunswick.
- Knowledge of Federal and Provincial programs and services
Preferred qualifications
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or demonstrated experience working via interpreters.
- Experience with assistive technology for hearing loss (hearing aids, cochlear implants, captioning services, alerting devices) and digital communication tools.
- Familiarity with New Brunswick labour market, employer networks, and program
- Experience developing and delivering workplace training on disability awareness and communication strategies.
- Strong case management skills and experience with clients tracking system
- Bilingualism (English/French)
