Electrical & Instrumental Technician
An Oil and Gas Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician installs, calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots complex automation, control, and power systems.
Responsibilities
· Instrumentation & Calibration: Calibrate and verify process instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, and level devices) using test equipment (chromatograph).
· Electrical Systems: Maintain and troubleshoot low-voltage distribution, motor control centers (MCCs), and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
· Automation & SCADA: Support Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
· Safety & Emergency Shutdowns (ESD): Conduct functional testing on fire and gas detection systems, safety switches, and emergency shutdown interlocks.
· Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all electrical and measurement operations adhere to safety mandates and codes.
Qualifications
· Trade Certification: Apprentice Electrical Instrumentation and/or Control Technician.
· Technical Knowledge: Ability to accurately read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and electrical schematics. Chromatograph experience would be considered an asset.
· Safety Credentials: Standard field safety tickets such as H2S Alive, First Aid, and Fall Protection would be considered an asset.
· Schedule: 50% in shop/office and 50% in the field
Pay: $30.00-$60.00 per hour
