Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the repair, maintenance, and general upkeep of Lakeside Farm’s facility, equipment, property, and production infrastructure. This is a hands-on role suited for someone who is highly versatile, proactive, and comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
The successful candidate will assist with general facility repairs, basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, equipment operation, construction-related projects, and property upkeep. This role requires someone who can work safely and independently, take initiative, and assist with a wide range of maintenance tasks as operational needs change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance and repairs throughout the facility, including production, packing, storage, office, exterior, and common areas
- Assist with troubleshooting basic electrical and mechanical issues, including lighting, circuits, motors, conveyors, and facility equipment
- Support preventative maintenance tasks and complete assigned work orders as directed by the Facility Manager
- Identify maintenance issues, safety concerns, equipment defects, or property damage and report or address them in a timely manner
- Assist with facility improvement and construction-related projects, including repairs, installations, panels, doors, fixtures, racking, fencing, and other infrastructure
- Assist with the assembly and installation of insulated panels, grow rooms, production areas, storage areas, or similar facility structures as required
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment in accordance with company procedures
- Operate forklifts, skid steers, compact track loaders, or other equipment as required, if trained and authorized
- Assist with moving materials, equipment, supplies, and facility infrastructure components throughout the property
- Perform outdoor property maintenance, including fence repairs, exterior cleaning, yard organization, seasonal maintenance, and general grounds upkeep
- Use Fiix CMMS or other maintenance tracking systems to document completed work and preventative maintenance activities as required
- Follow proper health and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements when working on or around equipment
- Work collaboratively with management and other departments to support smooth daily operations
- Escalate issues requiring licensed trades, specialized contractors, or management review when necessary
Requirements:
- Previous experience in facility maintenance, industrial maintenance, property maintenance, construction, agriculture, greenhouse operations, food production, manufacturing, or a related hands-on role
- Practical experience with general repairs, electrical troubleshooting, mechanical maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, construction, or equipment repair is considered an asset
- Experience safely operating forklifts, skid steers, compact track loaders, electric pallet jacks, or similar equipment is considered an asset
- Experience using a maintenance management system, such as Fiix CMMS, is considered an asset
- Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems is considered an asset
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and identify maintenance needs proactively
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks based on safety, urgency, and operational impact
- Comfortable performing a wide variety of maintenance tasks
- Ability to follow instructions, safety procedures, standard operating procedures, and company policies
- Strong work ethic, reliability, punctuality, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting, bending, standing, walking, climbing, and using tools for extended periods
Work Environment:
- In-person in Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON
- Full-time position with schedule based on operational and maintenance needs
- Overtime, weekends, or schedule flexibility may be required based on operational needs, maintenance priorities, or urgent repairs
- Work may take place in production, packing, storage, office, exterior, yard, and agricultural facility areas
- Work may involve indoor and outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions
- Exposure to organic materials, temperature variations, humidity, dust, noise, equipment, and active production environments
Pay: $27.00-$34.00 per hour
