Our small, welcoming, and collaborative animal hospital in New Westminster, BC, is seeking a motivated Veterinary Receptionist to join our dedicated team. This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling of 16–24 hours per week. This role blends hands-on animal care with comprehensive front desk reception duties, perfect for candidates passionate about veterinary care and client service.
Key Job Responsibilities
Animal Care Duties
- Provide gentle, compassionate daily care and support for all in-clinic animal patients.
- Maintain consistent clinic cleanliness and sanitation to ensure a safe, healthy environment for all pets.
- Foster a calm, positive, and nurturing atmosphere in all animal care areas.
- Work closely with team members to deliver efficient, high-quality care in a fast-paced clinic setting.
Receptionist Duties
- Manage front desk operations independently with a friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor at all times.
- Handle client check-ins, check-outs, general inquiries, and follow-up communications; accurately schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments while maintaining organized digital booking records.
- Serve our diverse client community effectively using client preferred language skills to deliver clear, comfortable communication for multilingual clients.
- Uphold a warm, inclusive, and welcoming front-of-house experience for every client and visitor, creating a positive first and last impression of the clinic.
- Process client payments, invoices, and basic billing transactions accurately, and maintain tidy front desk administrative files.
- Answer and route incoming phone calls, respond to general email and social media inquiries, and relay important messages to veterinarians and team members promptly.
- Educate clients on basic clinic policies, service procedures, and follow-up care instructions under veterinary guidance.
- Assist with inventory organization of front retail products and maintain a clean, tidy front desk and waiting area at all times.
Job Qualifications
- Prior veterinary clinic work experience strongly benefited
- Strong Asset: Bilingual fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese
- Previous reception experience, or a proactive willingness to learn front desk administrative tasks
- Strong time-management and organizational skills to thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, a positive mindset, and a strong team-player attitude
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and providing thoughtful client care
Wage & Benefits
- Hourly wage: $18.25–$21 per hour, based on experience
