The Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator plays a key role in promoting a safe, healthy, and engaging workplace at Cypress Mountain. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) legislation and best practices. They will support on implementation and oversee workplace safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance. This role helps to safeguard team member well-being while enhancing the overall team experience, to maintain a physical and psychological safe and productive work environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES (including but not limited to the following):
· Coordinate implementation of worker safety training and programming to meet and exceed all required provincial/federal regulations including WorkSafeBC.
· Ensure delivery of job-specific OHS education and training to workers, ensuring compliance with legislation.
· Assisting the Director of Risk Manangement in the development, implementation, and maintenance of hazard and risk assessments, safe work procedures, written reports, and recommendations in compliance with applicable OHS Acts and Regulations.
· Advise and monitor compliance with WorkSafeBC, OHS mandates, and other pertinent legislation /regulations; monitor safety records, recommend changes/improvements for consideration to senior management. Notify senior management of any apparent issues of non-compliance as required by law.
· Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of emergency preparedness procedures; oversee drills, exercises, and team member training.
· Coordinate and facilitate workplace safety training programs, including:
o New and Young Worker Health and Safety Orientations.
o Supervisor and Manager Due Diligence training.
o Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (JOHSC) training.
· Help ensure JOHSC operations including routine inspections, investigations, trend analysis, mitigation strategies, and reporting are maintained.
· Maintain COR certification through annual audits, documentation, and continuous improvement.
· Manage workplace injuries, including WorkSafeBC claims and return-to-work programs.
· Demonstrates a positive, courteous, and collaborative approach by supporting and assisting fellow Cypress Mountain team members in the performance of their duties.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
· Ability to access varying terrain on skis or snowboard.
· Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills for managing risks and coaching team members.
· Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving and decision-making skills.
· Adaptable to work effectively in a diverse and ever-changing working environment.
· Ski industry experience an asset.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· College diploma or bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Health, or a related discipline preferred. An equivalent combination of education, professional certifications, and relevant experience will also be considered.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, administrative skills and the ability to use computers/web programs to enter data and process information.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
· Legally able to work in Canada.
· Valid B.C. driver's license w/insured and reliable vehicle for travel to and from the mountain.
· Any applicable safety training is an asset (i.e. WHMIS, Fall protection, WorkSafeBC training).
WAGE/BENEFITS:
· Salary: $65,000 -75,000 (DOE)
