Position Overview
The Project Manager is a project delivery professional responsible for leading complex and multi‑disciplinary engineering projects across GRIT Engineering. This role carries accountability for delivery performance, financial control, risk management, and client confidence.
The Project Manager is relied upon to lead work that spans Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical, and Survey‑supported projects, often involving multiple internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory requirements. The role requires strong professional judgment, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to independently stabilize, guide, and successfully deliver projects where complexity, scale, or risk demands a high level of project management experience.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead complex and multi‑disciplinary engineering projects from initiation through close‑out, with full accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk
- Develop and maintain integrated project plans, delivery strategies, and execution controls appropriate to project complexity
- Monitor project performance and take early, decisive action to address schedule, budget, resourcing, or risk issues
- Apply sound judgment to resolve delivery challenges and determine when escalation is required
- Manage project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and invoicing
- Support or lead contract administration activities, including RFIs, change requests, progress claims, and issue resolution
- Serve as a primary project contact and experienced delivery resource for clients and stakeholders
- Build long‑term client trust through clarity, reliability, and delivery consistency
- Coordinate effectively with Engineers, designers, drafters, and field staff across divisions
- Apply consistent project management standards while adapting to differing technical, regulatory, and delivery contexts
- Ensure projects comply with internal QA/QC requirements, project management standards, and regulatory expectations
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, including technical, financial, schedule, and reputational risks
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive project management experience, preferably in an engineering, construction, or consulting environment
- Demonstrated success delivering complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, disciplines, and constraints
- Proven accountability for full project delivery, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk
- Strong working knowledge of project delivery fundamentals, contract administration, and financial controls
- Ability to operate independently, apply sound professional judgment, and lead through complexity
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- PMP designation is an asset
Working Conditions
- Primarily office‑based with occasional site visits as required to support project delivery
- Flexible hours may be required to meet project or client needs
- PPE required when attending construction sites
- Occasional travel required to job sites across Ontario may be required
