Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Semi-Truck and Trailer Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of heavy-duty trucks and trailers to ensure optimal performance and safety. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of heavy equipment, utilize advanced diagnostic tools, and contribute to our reputation for excellence in transportation.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on semi-trucks and trailers, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, and air systems
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, lighting, HVAC units, and other complex components
- Perform preventative maintenance including inspection of vehicles/trailers, brake adjustments, servicing and filter replacements.
- Maintain detailed records of all repairs performed and effectively managing inventory of parts and tools
- Perform tire service including mounting, balancing, repair, and replacement with safety compliance in mind
- Use power tools and hand tools efficiently for assembly, disassembly, welding, or fabrication tasks
- Diagnose electrical issues including wiring, lighting systems, starters, and alternators
- Communicate with dispatch and management regarding vehicle repair status
- Keep the shop and work area clean, organized, and safe
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a dealership or fleet environment
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics and mechanical systems including diesel engines, transmissions, brakes (including air brake systems), suspension components, shocks & struts
- Familiarity with schematics for electrical wiring and hydraulic diagrams
- Experience working with heavy equipment such as excavators or forklifts is a plus
- Ability to operate power tools safely while performing vehicle maintenance or fabrication tasks
- Hands-on experience with tire service, welding techniques, and general equipment repair
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and clients when necessary
