Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated PSWs/HSWs to join our team in Scarborough. This role involves providing high-quality patient and senior care within assisted living, nursing homes, and home care settings. Ideal candidates will have experience working with individuals with disabilities, dementia, or those requiring hospice care. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of clients while working in a supportive environment that values professional growth and compassionate service.
Weekend availability is a MUST (including Sundays) plus 1-2 days per week. Shift hours can fluctuate.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalized patient and senior care, including assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility support
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and protocols
- Assist with meal preparation to ensure proper nutrition for clients
- Support clients with mobility and transfer needs, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping and infection control procedures
- Monitor and report on clients’ health status, noting any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals
- Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, fostering a respectful and caring atmosphere
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Assist with activities that promote mental stimulation and overall well-being
Skills
- Experience in assisted living, nursing home, or home care environments preferred
- Strong background in patient care, caregiving, or nursing roles
- Knowledge of dementia care, hospice care, and working with individuals with disabilities highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively when required
- Excellent communication skills to interact empathetically with clients and team members
- Ability to follow detailed care plans and medication administration protocols
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for others
- Flexibility to adapt to varying client needs and work environments
