Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Truck Dispatcher to coordinate and manage the scheduling and routing of freight shipments. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, proficiency with transportation management systems, and a solid understanding of supply chain operations. This role is essential in ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining efficient logistics workflows, and supporting overall transportation operations within our company. The Truck Dispatcher will work closely with drivers, clients, and internal teams to facilitate smooth freight movement and optimize operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily dispatch activities for freight shipments, ensuring timely pickup and delivery schedules.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) such as SyteLine and AS400 to plan routes, assign loads, and track shipments.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and professional phone etiquette.
- Manage shipping & receiving documentation accurately through data entry and analysis skills.
- Monitor freight movements, troubleshoot issues, and adjust routes as necessary to meet delivery deadlines.
- Maintain detailed records of dispatch activities, shipment statuses, and driver logs.
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to optimize freight utilization and improve overall logistics processes.
- Support shipping & receiving operations by coordinating inbound and outbound freight activities.
- Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with transportation management systems such as SyteLine or AS400 is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain logistics, freight management, and 3PL operations.
- Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems effectively.
- Proficiency in data entry, typing, and analysis skills for managing shipment information accurately.
- Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures and related documentation requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently across various responsibilities.
- Prior experience in freight or transportation coordination is advantageous but not mandatory.
