Edmonton
Islamic Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational
Assistant (EA)
to join our Elementary Division. As a growing pre-kindergarten
to Grade 12 school, EIA provides a supportive and collaborative environment
where staff play an integral role in student success.
The successful
candidate will provide instructional and behavioral support to students under
the direction of the classroom teacher. This role involves working closely with
individual students—often one-on-one—to support their academic, social, and
emotional development through individualized programming and team
collaboration.
Key
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to
students based on individualized learning plans
- Assist students in developing academic, social, and
life skills necessary for success in the classroom
- Support student behavior through positive behavior
management strategies
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher and support
team to implement instructional plans
- Assist with classroom preparation, organization,
and resource development
- Supervise students during instructional and
non-instructional times (e.g., recess, transitions)
- Communicate effectively with teachers and staff
regarding student progress and needs
- Support a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning
environment
Qualifications,
Education & Experience
- Educational Assistant Certificate, or Early
Childhood Certification (Level 2) or related post-secondary education is
an asset
- Minimum of one (1) year of related experience
working with children or students with diverse learning needs
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training is
an asset
- Additional coursework related to special education
or working with students with special needs is an asset
