Job Purpose: The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by protecting people, property, and assets. This role monitors site activity responds to incidents, and enforces site policies and procedures to prevent loss, damage, or unauthorized activity.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas of the facility.
- Conduct routine security checks of doors, windows, locks, and building interiors for signs of damage, theft, or unauthorized access.
- Monitor site activity to maintain order, provide information, guide traffic when required, and respond to complaints or security concerns.
- Ensure keys for equipment are properly returned and stored in the designated reception area.
- Inspect propane and gas tanks and report any irregularities or safety concerns.
- Monitor for unauthorized vehicles and ensure only approved vehicles are present on site.
- Observe, document, and report incidents involving employees, visitors, equipment, or property.
- Maintain accurate daily records and complete required security checklists.
- Immediately report emergencies, including smoke or fire hazards, using the Emergency Directory located in the reception area.
- Follow all Personnel policies and procedures as outlined in the Policy Manual as well as maintaining the Company's safety standards.
- Other tasks as assigned by members of the Management Team.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with reliable transportation is mandatory.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Standard First Aid (CSA Intermediate) with Level C CPR and AED certification.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 30 pounds.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions and security protocols consistently.
- Demonstrated punctuality, reliability, and professional conduct.
- Comfortable working independently and patrolling the site without a companion.
Working Conditions
- Shift work required, including day and night shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays as scheduled.
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety vest, work boots, and weather-appropriate clothing.
- Role requires extended periods of walking, standing, and patrolling large industrial areas.
- Must be comfortable working alone for extended periods while maintaining vigilance and situational awareness.
Pay: From $18.50 per hour

- Stand Off, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
