The World We Are Building
Imagine heavy-duty transportation where specialized equipment performs exactly as engineered.
Where manufacturers do not settle for “good enough.”
Where precision components keep critical industries moving safely, reliably, and efficiently.
That is the world we are building.
The Team and Mission
KG Industries Ltd. is a Canadian manufacturer of specialty heavy-duty axles.
For more than 45 years, we have engineered and manufactured axle solutions for demanding applications. Heavy haul. Mining. Forestry. Construction. Off-highway. Specialized transportation.
You will work alongside machinists, engineers, production leaders, quality specialists, and skilled tradespeople at our manufacturing facility in Cawston, British Columbia.
Our mission is clear:
We advance specialty transportation.
Your work will help turn engineered designs into dependable components that perform in real-world conditions.
How We Work
We protect quality at every step.
We take precise action and solve problems at the source.
We learn, adapt, improve, and win as one team.
Read This Before You Apply
This is not a role for someone who wants to press a button and wait for the shift to end.
We need someone who takes ownership.
Someone who notices when something is not right.
Someone who cares about the difference between “close” and correct.
Continue only if something inside you is saying:
HELL YEAH!
Machinist
Role Summary
As a Machinist at KG Industries, you will produce precision components using CNC and manual machining equipment.
You will set up machines correctly. Interpret technical drawings. Select and handle tooling. Measure completed work. Troubleshoot problems. Maintain equipment. Improve the way work gets done.
Your mission is to ensure the reliable, safe, and efficient production of precision components while protecting our uncompromising quality standards.
How This Role Advances Our Mission
Every axle depends on components being produced accurately.
Your work directly affects product quality, machine uptime, production flow, and customer confidence.
When you do your job well, our products perform as intended in some of the most demanding transportation environments in the world.
Six Things You Will Love to Do
You will love this role if you enjoy:
- Setting up and operating CNC and manual machines: You take pride in preparing equipment correctly and producing accurate parts.
- Turning drawings into finished components: You can interpret blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, and job instructions without guessing.
- Measuring work with confidence: You use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools to confirm that every component meets specification.
- Solving Technical problems: You investigate machine, tooling, setup, and process issues instead of working around them.
- Making processes better: You look for opportunities to reduce setup time, improve cycle time, prevent defects, and minimize downtime.
- Sharing what you know: You work with engineers, team leads, and other machinists. You document improvements and help strengthen the capability of the entire team.
The Person We Are Looking For
You Are Precision-Driven
You notice details others overlook.
You understand that a small machining error can create a much larger problem downstream.
You verify your work before passing it forward.
You Own Quality
You do not rely on someone else to catch your mistakes.
You inspect your work.
You speak up when a drawing, setup, tool, material, or process does not look right.
You Are Technically Capable
You have experience with CNC machining, manual machining, or both.
You understand machining tools, materials, speeds, feeds, tolerances, and measurement techniques.
You can read blueprints and apply shop math. Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is a strong asset.
You Are Mechanically Curious
You want to understand how machines, tooling, fixtures, and materials behave.
You do not stop at identifying a problem.
You want to know why it happened and how to prevent it from happening again.
You Are Safety-Conscious
You follow established safety and maintenance procedures.
You maintain an orderly work area.
You never trade safety for speed.
You Are Proactive
You do not wait for every instruction.
You prepare for the next job.
You communicate concerns early.
You take action when equipment, tooling, documentation, or processes need attention.
You Are Calm Under Pressure
You remain focused when a machine goes down, a tolerance is tight, or production priorities change.
You think before acting.
You solve problems without creating new ones.
You Are Reliable
You show up ready to contribute.
Your team can depend on your workmanship, communication, and follow-through.
You consistently complete work to the required standard.
You Are Adaptable
You can move between jobs, machines, materials, and changing production demands.
You learn quickly.
You remain productive without sacrificing accuracy.
You Believe in Continuous Improvement
You want to become faster because your process is better.
Not because you cut corners.
You welcome feedback. You build your technical independence. You help improve setup, troubleshooting, documentation, and production performance.
You Are a Team Player
You respect the people working before and after your operation.
You understand that machining is part of a larger production system.
You communicate clearly, share knowledge, and work toward the same result as the rest of the team.
Your First 90 Days
You will be expected to:
- Build proficiency on your assigned CNC and manual machines.
- Learn and consistently follow our safety and maintenance procedures.
- Understand our drawings, tooling, inspection requirements, and quality expectations.
- Establish a clear understanding of machine uptime, defect rates, setup times, and cycle times.
- Demonstrate that you can identify concerns, communicate clearly, and take ownership of your work.
This Role Is for You If
You want your work to matter.
You want to build components that must perform under demanding conditions.
You want high standards.
You want accountability.
