We are seeking a Registered Early Childhood Educator or ECE-trained professional to support children during court-ordered parenting time visits between a parent and child. This role is well suited to an educator who understands early childhood development, attachment, emotional regulation, and the importance of creating predictable, safe, and developmentally appropriate experiences for children navigating family transitions.
In this role, the ECE acts as a neutral, child-focused presence during parenting time, supporting positive parent-child interactions, observing child wellbeing, and ensuring visits unfold in a manner that prioritizes the child’s emotional and developmental needs.
Schedule (Please list your availability on your application):
- Weeknights: 4:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
- Weekends: Saturdays and Sundays
- Summer day time hours may also be available
- Visit Length: Typically 1–6 hours per visit

Key Responsibilities
- Support children during parenting time visits by creating a calm, structured, and developmentally appropriate environment
- Facilitate child-led and age-appropriate play and interactions in home and community settings (e.g., parks, libraries, walks, family-friendly venues)
- Observe and document children’s emotional responses, engagement, and overall wellbeing throughout visits
- Maintain detailed, objective written observations that may be shared with courts or referring professionals
- Model positive, developmentally informed interaction strategies when appropriate
- Maintain clear, respectful boundaries with parents while keeping the child’s needs central
- Support emotional regulation and transitions before, during, and after visits
- Respond calmly and professionally in situations involving heightened emotions
- Participate in virtual parenting time sessions when required, using secure video platforms
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (or closely related field)
- Experience working with children aged 0–12 years in caregiving, educational, or family-support settings
- Strong understanding of child development, attachment, and emotional regulation
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, detailed, and objective observation notes
- Experience supporting children and families during stressful or transitional periods
- Comfort working with diverse family systems, including families new to Canada
- Ability to remain grounded, neutral, and child-focused in complex family dynamics
- Knowledge of community-based family and child resources
- Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check (VSS)
- Reliable internet access and comfort using video conferencing tools
