The Make Station is looking for energetic, creative, and reliable individuals who are passionate about inspiring children through art. We believe that everyone is a maker, and we're looking for instructors who can help foster confidence, creativity, and a love of making in every child who walks through our doors.
Previous experience working with children is required. Experience teaching visual arts is a strong asset, but we also welcome applicants with backgrounds in education, recreation, childcare, camps, or other creative fields.
Position Details:
Job Type: Part-time
Hours: Approximately 10–30 hours per week, primarily weekday afternoons and evenings, with a mandatory either Saturday or Sunday availability.
Typical shifts include:
- Weekday classes: 1:00PM – 7:00PM
- Weekends : 10:00AM – 5:00PM
Preference will be given to candidates with greater availability, but we are happy to consider applicants available for select shifts.

Compensation:
$17.75-$22 per hour, depending on experience. Bachelor of Education or Early Childhood Education certificates will be highly considered.
As an Art Instructor, you'll create a welcoming and encouraging environment where children feel excited to explore their creativity. You'll lead engaging art classes, camps, birthday parties, and workshops while helping each child build confidence through hands-on making.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and leading fun, age-appropriate art projects for children ages 5–16.
- Teaching a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, clay, digital art, photography, and more (training provided where needed).
- Preparing materials and maintaining a clean, organized studio.
- Encouraging creativity while adapting projects to different ages and skill levels.
- Building positive relationships with children through patience, kindness, and enthusiasm.
- Greeting families and communicating professionally with parents.
- Assisting with birthday parties, PA Day camps, March Break camps, Summer Camps, and special studio events.
- Helping maintain a safe, welcoming, and inspiring studio environment.
- Other duties as required.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children (required).
- Experience teaching art, leading camps, recreational programming, or educational activities is an asset.
- Background in Fine Arts, Art Education, Recreation, or a related field is considered an asset but is not required.
- Bachelor of Education or Early Childhood Education is a major asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and carry art supplies and equipment (up to 20 kg).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced creative environment.
Successful candidates will be required to obtain or provide:
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C (or willingness to obtain before starting).
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Signed disclosure statement regarding any prior convictions.
