JOB SUMMARY
As a member of the Facilities & Maintenance team, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the over-all upkeep and repair of our industrial manufacturing plant. They will support the Production and Fabrication departments with general equipment and facilities maintenance. This position reports to the Facilities & Maintenance Manager.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs on manufacturing machinery, electrical, equipment, buildings, plumbing, HVAC etc.;
- Perform inspections and troubleshoot any breakdowns and resolve issues minimizing the impact on production;
- Document root causes, equipment faults and concerns and report to the Facilities & Maintenance Manager;
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and repair drawings;
- Move and re-install equipment when needed;
- Align and calibrate equipment parts as needed;
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during installation and repairs;
- Operate hand tools, power tools and welding equipment;
- Work with outside contractors and service providers to plan and manage projects;
- Ensure that standards for safe working conditions are observed;
- Ensure proper use of required personal protective equipment at all times;
- Keep a clean safe work environment;
- Complete any special projects as required.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 2-4 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment;
- Knowledge of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, hydraulics, and HVAC is an asset;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Possess good manual dexterity;
- Strong math skills;
- Able to work in a team environment as well as independently;
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to multitask;
- Provide own hand tools; screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, wire strippers, cutters;
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time;
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labour in all weather conditions;
- Comfortable working at heights regularly.
