Role Overview
The 3rd Engineer will support the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all engine room machinery aboard a modern DP2 multi‑purpose vessel. You’ll work under the 2nd Engineer and Chief Engineer, contributing to planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and daily operational routines across propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Engine Room Operations — Assist with daily monitoring, logging, and operation of propulsion and auxiliary systems.
- Planned Maintenance — Execute PMS tasks on engines, generators, pumps, compressors, purifiers, and HVAC systems.
- DP2 Support Systems — Support the maintenance of DP‑related machinery, including thrusters, hydraulic power units, and cooling systems.
- Fault Diagnosis — Identify and report machinery defects, assisting senior engineers with troubleshooting.
- Safety & Compliance — Ensure all work meets company, class, and flag‑state safety standards.
- Environmental Procedures — Follow MARPOL and company environmental policies, including waste management and emissions control.
- Watchkeeping Duties — Participate in engine room watch rotations as required.
Minimum Requirements
- STCW III/1 OOW Engineer Certificate of Competency
- Valid STCW Basic Safety certificates
- ENG1 Medical
- Experience on DP2 or offshore support vessels preferred
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, power generation, and auxiliary systems
- Good command of English (written & spoken)
- Right to work in the Canada or ability to obtain relevant visas
Desirable Qualifications
- DP Maintenance Course
- Experience with Kongsberg, Rolls‑Royce, or Bergen systems
- Familiarity with Planned Maintenance Systems
