PARTNER RELATIONS DIVISION
PURPOSE SUMMARY
As a member of the Major Gifts Team within the Philanthropic Engagement Department, this position is responsible to develop and maintain relationships with a portfolio of select Major Donors & Business Relationships across Canada. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropic Engagement, the purpose of this role is to form collaborative partnerships benefitting each partner's missional goals, while achieving the multi-product acquisitional goals and activities of the team and organization. The activities of this position are integral to executing the Major and Principal Donor strategy &, all within the overarching mission of releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

WHAT YOU DO MATTERS
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and implement an effective engagement plan for stewarding a portfolio of major and principal donors with a total revenue goal of over $1M annually.
- Create individualized engagement strategies tailored to donor interests, capacity, and mission alignment.
- Develop and execute customized multi-year, multi-product strategic engagement plans with key Major Donors & Businesses, inclusive of the broad range of Compassion’s programmatic and advocacy interventions.
- Key implementer of the major gift team’s prospect and qualification work.
- Lead research, prospecting, and engaging conversation toward relationship with new partners.
- Implement engaging cultivation and partnership strategies with agreed-upon and measurable relational landmarks, goals, and vision.
- Regularly update Corporate Customer Relationship Management database with all relational activities completed, strategies, contacts, and future plans.
- Participate in the refinement, execution, and improvement of relational engagement strategies based on ‘real world’ experience and proven best practices.
- Attend to maintaining current and accurate knowledge of programmatic activity and international development trends in order to comprehensively advise on these matters while representing Compassion to sponsors and donors.
- Plan, execute, and present at Compassion-related events.
- Manage and submit reports for personal expenses, time sheets, and domestic travel.
- Review activities and progress toward team and individual targets.
- Stay apprised of organizational partnerships which serve as a resource to our supporters with planned giving / estate planning.
- Perform additional responsibilities and projects as assigned within the scope of the role.

- Eagerness to find new and creative ways to increase Compassion’s influence.
- Marketing awareness with an aptitude for utilizing emerging, social, and traditional media in partnership development activity.
- Ability to work at an advanced level with a variety of systems, including desktop applications, cloud-based applications, databases, report writing applications, and CRM software.
- Willing and able to travel regularly across Canada and occasionally internal.
WHAT YOU BRING MATTERS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Post secondary education or Professional Certification in Fundraising, Sales, is strongly required.
- Must hold a valid driver’s licence in the province or territory of residence.
- Minimum of (5) five years demonstrated experience developing and maintaining effective partnerships with major donors, business partners, or similar high-value stakeholders is required.
- Demonstrated history of consistently soliciting gifts of $25,000 and more required.
- Competency in using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, databases, report writing tools, and cloud-based collaboration platforms is required.
- Proven ability to manage multiple portfolios, including tracking outcomes and achieving significant revenue donation targets.
- Experience designing and executing multi-year, multi-product engagement plans with high-value donors and businesses is strongly preferred.
- Experience mobilizing volunteers or teams to implement partnership, fundraising, or engagement initiatives is an asset.
- Awareness and experience applying multicultural and diaspora community engagement strategies is a strong asset.
- Experience with planned giving, estate planning partnerships, or major gift strategies is a strong asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This role may be assigned to support a specific Region or Province/Territory. When assigned, primary residence must be within that designated area as it is an essential requirement of the position.
- Remote-First Employment: This role primarily functions from a home-based office and does not require regular travel to the London, Ontario, Compassion Canada Head Office.
- Hybrid or regional office access may be required occasionally for in-person team collaboration, donor visits, or planning sessions.
- Digital-First Engagement: Relational, team, and organizational meetings, training, and workshops are primarily conducted online via video conferencing and similar tools.
- Regular regional and domestic travel, including occasional overnight trips, is required for donor visits, events, and execution of the deliverables of the role.
- A valid driver’s licence with access and ability to travel regionally and domestically is required.
- Overtime may be required during peak periods, special projects, or major donor events.
- This role operates within a dynamic, agile, and distributed workforce environment, requiring flexibility, independent decision-making, and effective time management.
