Position Summary The Licensed Automotive Service Technician will play a critical role in our shop, executing advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and routine maintenance across a diverse range of vehicle makes and models. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience—preferably with a strong dealership background—and possesses the technical proficiency required to troubleshoot intricate mechanical and electrical systems while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Diagnostics & Repair: Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections and complex troubleshooting using digital diagnostic equipment, schematics, and technical manuals. Execute precision repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, electrical networks, and suspension components.
- Precision Workmanship: Utilize specialized hand tools, power tools, fabrication, and welding equipment to complete teardowns, assemblies, and repairs efficiently and to OEM specifications.
- Preventative Maintenance: Oversee and execute routine maintenance fluids, tire service, and comprehensive safety inspections, ensuring every vehicle leaving the bay meets Torque Boys standards.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain meticulous digital records of diagnostic findings, work performed, labor times, and parts utilized for each repair order.
- Client & Team Communication: Translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable advice for service advisors and clients regarding repair urgency, timelines, and preventative care.
- Safety & Bay Management: Adhere strictly to workplace safety protocols (WHMIS, OHSA), maintaining a clean, efficient, and hazard-free individual workspace.
Qualifications & Skills
- Licensing: Valid Ontario 310S Automotive Service Technician license (or equivalent provincial/state certification) in good standing.
- Experience: Proven track record as a licensed mechanic; dealership environment or high-volume service center experience is highly preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Deep mechanical mastery of modern automotive systems, including advanced electrical troubleshooting, drivability diagnostics, and reading complex schematics.
- Physical Capability: Physically fit and capable of safely performing heavy lifting and demanding manual tasks typical of a high-output shop environment.
- Professional Attributes: Strong attention to detail, a commitment to right-the-first-time quality, and the ability to work seamlessly within a collaborative team environment.
- Assets: Valid driver's license with a clean abstract.
Pay: $35.00-$50.00 per hour
