Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Drop-In Worker to join our team! The Jane’s Drop In-Worker is responsible for ensuring the smooth and effective operations of the Jane’s Drop-In Program. They are also responsible for the weekend’s implementation of all the programs services and workshops. Your energetic approach and strong organizational skills will help foster positive interactions, and contribute to the overall success of our programs.
Duties
- Welcome visitors and clients, providing friendly and professional assistance upon arrival
- Implement Program activities and workshops as scheduled
- Assist kitchen staff in the preparation and distribution of the meal
- Provide support and assistance to clients as needed
- Encourage clients to participate in program activities and workshops
- Manage and record program statistics
- Provide referral services to clients seeking specific needs
- Assist in development of monthly reports
- Assist with maintaining Drop-In clean before and after closing i.e. wiping of tables, putting chairs up, closing the blinds
- Participate in staff debriefing meetings
- Available to attend mandatory training as well as off site meetings when required
- Maintain clients confidentiality
- Advocate on behalf of clients
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
- College diploma in Community Services, Early Childhood Education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is considered a strong asset.
- Valid Standard (or Basic) First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid City of Toronto Food Handler Certificate.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), database management systems, and internet applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.
- Demonstrated cultural awareness, sensitivity, and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, colleagues, and community partners.
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible, with the ability to work varying hours as required to meet program needs.
- Must be available to work on statutory holidays
Pay: From $18.50 per hour
