Wage: $38-$43 per hour (Based on Education & Experience)

Established in 1992, Westhills Aggregates specializes in the production and processing of sand and gravel, with an emphasis on crushing and screening of construction aggregates. In addition to the trucking and delivery of aggregates, Westhills Aggregates also conducts civil and earthworks construction, including road maintenance, site preparation, excavation, snow plowing/removal, and underground utilities.
Westhills Civil has a substantial amount of work ahead of it and requires a Surveyor to join the team.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Westhills Civil Manager, the Surveyor is responsible for layout, survey, and grade man duties to support construction, engineering, and land development projects. They will use specialized equipment (Trimble, Topcon, Leica, Etc.) to determine precise property boundaries and create detailed maps and reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed land surveys to determine precise measurements or project areas, including topographic, boundary, and construction layout surveys.
- Create and update sketches, maps, and reports regarding surveys, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Determine land volumes, areas, and markers necessary for construction boundaries, and provide precise calculations for project planning.
- Work with the field crews.
- Adjust and operate a variety of surveying instruments, such as rotating lasers, total stations, GPS, and prisms, to capture specific site details accurately.
- Mark out construction sites and provide precise locations for structures, utilities, and other project components.
- Offer technical support and guidance to project teams, ensuring that surveying data is correctly interpreted and applied.
- Regularly inspect and maintain surveying equipment to ensure it is in good working condition and calibrated correctly.
- Perform site inspections for quality control to verify that construction activities are in line with survey data and project specifications.
- Mentor and train junior surveyors, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team capabilities.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum Academic/Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with CAD software and strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Keen attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills.
Other Certification, Licenses, Designations and/or Training
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable personal vehicle.
Specific Job Skills and Levels
- Proficiency in using surveying equipment and technology such as GPS, drones, and GIS.
- Ability to interpret and analyze data accurately.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain detailed records and reports.
- Effective collaboration and communication with various stakeholders.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints/plans.
- Have a positive attitude and good character.
- Possess a strong work ethic.
- Ability to transfer instructions into action efficiently.
- Great communication skills.
- Knowledge of civil construction/underground utility construction.
Minimum Level of Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in surveying.
- Qualification in trades and/or equivalent experience.
Working Conditions
- Interaction with engineers and construction managers.
- Physical ability to lift 50lb.
- Travel to site and off-site locations will be required.
- Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, etc.
- Overtime as required.
- Hazards associated with trade.
- Office work for data analysis and report preparation.
- Will be exposed to construction sites.
- Will work in all weather conditions.
