Scope:
MRO is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manufacturing Quality Control Engineer to join our Aerospace Manufacturing team. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing processes, products, and components meet rigorous quality standards specific to the aerospace industry, and in alignment with our Aerospace certifications.
This role involves submitting PPAP customer requirements, performing MSA (gage R&R) , providing engineering or quality reports. This role involves problem solving and root cause analysis of both internal and external quality issues and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement in product quality and production efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance & Control: Develop and maintain quality standards, quality control plans,and quality management systems (QMS) that comply with AS9100D and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Inspection and Testing: Oversee and conduct product and material inspections, tests, and audits of products, processes, and systems to ensure compliance with aerospace quality and regulatory standards.
- Environmental Test Reporting: Coordinates or leads the implementation of environmental testing for customer products when needed and generates reports.
- Product Specification and Testing Review: Participate in the review of customer’s product specification and testing requirement vs company capability and quality considerations. Provide recommendations as needed.
- Documentation & Reporting: Document quality procedures and work instructions, prepare detailed quality and engineering reports, and ensure traceability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Quality and Data analysis: Analyze production and service limitations, interpret data using statistical methods (like hypothesis and process capability analysis), and prepare reports with recommendations. Conduct and prepare MSA (gage R&R), CPK studies, DOEs, reliability studies and other special analysis as needed.
- Quality Record Management: Generate and update quality control plan, customer process flow, FMEA, MSA (gage R&R) studies, and other requirements needed for PPAP. Submit PPAP to customers as needed.
- Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Lead root cause analysis for any quality related issues, employing methodologies such as 8D, FMEA, 5 Whys, and Six Sigma and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Compliance: Maintain compliance of products in manufacturing to specific customer purchase orders, blueprints and specifications and guaranteeing that products and processes meet company and relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and government requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce defects and operational efficiency, including Lean and Six Sigma projects, to enhance product quality and reduce defects.
- Customer Support: Address customer quality complaints and collaborate with the engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues promptly.
- Training & Support: Train production staff on quality standards, procedures, best practices, quality concepts and quality tools to maintain a culture of quality and accountability. Develop further in-house training programs for future manufacturing capabilities.
Qualification :
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related Field.
- Certification: APEGA (PEng.) or ASQ Certification (CQE) is preferred. Six Sigma Green/Black Belt is a plus.
- Experience: 2+ years of quality or manufacturing engineering experience in the aerospace or a similar high-precision manufacturing environment.
Technical skills:
- Knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and regulatory standards
- Proficiency with measurement tools and statistical analysis techniques
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications
- Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
- Strong knowledge of AS9100D, ISO 9001, and other aerospace industry standards.
- Hands-on experience of generating PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Process Flow, Control Plan,
- MSA (gage R&R).
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), GD&T, CPK studies, DOEs, and quality inspection tools.
- Experience with root cause analysis, problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, FMEA,
- 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams) and corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
- Experience with generating Engineering or Quality reports.
