Open Doors Mortgage Team located at 17674 58 Avenue, Surrey, BC, V3S 1L6 is seeking a motivated and client focused Mortgage Underwriter to join our team. The salary is $38.46 per hour working an 40 hours per week. This is a full-time, year-round positions. Extended health including dental benefits are available after successfully completing a three (3) month probationary period.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive, review, and process residential mortgage applications.
- Communicate with clients to collect required documentation and guide them through the mortgage process.
- Assess client financial information and identify suitable mortgage solutions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, lenders, lawyers, appraisers, and other industry professionals.
- Prepare mortgage documentation, contracts, and supporting paperwork.
- Follow up on application status and provide timely updates to clients.
- Respond to client inquiries by phone, email, and in person.
- Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist with business development activities and referral partner relationships.
- Perform other duties as required to support the mortgage brokerage team.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of continuous experience in mortgage administration, lending, financial services, office supervision, office management, underwriting, or another related field, or two years of directly related administrative, supervisory, or operational experience in a financial services environment.
- Valid mortgage broker/mortgage associate licence, or active enrollment in a mortgage licensing course recognized by the appropriate provincial regulator (BC Financial Services Authority BCFSA, ), or the ability to transfer from another jurisdiction.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
- In office, no remote work option.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with MAC OS, Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, and Google Workspace. Experience Zoho CRM platform an asset.
- Experience with mortgage brokerage software and lender portals is considered an asset (Lenddesk Finmo, Filogix).
