Overview
Intertidal is an agency in Stony Plain, Alberta offering supports to children, youth and adults with varying support needs including behavioral, personal care, community access in a home and community setting.
We are seeking experienced, educated, compassionate and dedicated Support Worker’s to join our team.
The primary responsibility of a Direct Support Worker is to enhance the quality of lives of the individuals we support by providing care and guidance through the implementation of individual support plans and behavior support plans.
Helpful experience or education includes:
- Previous experience in group home setting, day program and educational setting.
- Diplomas and degrees in addiction studies, disability studies and youth studies.
Please note: at this time we will not consider working with the senior community an asset.
Please note prior to applying: We are in Stony Plain, AB- the town-this is different that Stony Plain Road in Edmonton. Stony Plain DOES not have a bus system and therefore you MUST have transportation to get to work. We are on average 20–45-minute drive from Edmonton depending on your location in Edmonton. Most of our positions require staff to have a driver’s license.

General Job Requirements
· Assisting individuals with daily living activities, personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing.
· Model emotional regulation to support the wellbeing of individuals
· Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and preferences.
· Administer medications
· Maintain a clean and safe environment
· Implement support plans and planned positive procedures
· Attend required training and staff team meetings
Experience
· 2-5 years experiences in group care/ educational setting required
· Strong written and communication skills
· Commitment to providing compassionate care while respecting client dignity and privacy.
Required Qualifications
· Low Risk Environment: High School or equivalent with 2 years’ experience
· High Risk Environment: Post- secondary diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, Human Services and Social Sciences, Community Disability Support Services with 3-5 years’ experience
- Ability to manage physical demands, such as lifting and carrying up to 50lbs, standing, sitting, walking, reaching, handling, crouching and bending;
- Class 5 Driver’s License and 2-million-dollar liability insurance is required;
- Drive Individuals (in your personal vehicle) within the community;
- First Aid & CPR is preferred

Pay Scale:
Our pay scale is dependent on experience and education.
