Machinist Responsibilities:
- Set up job(s) to be drilled.
- Keep log of time spent on jobs.
- Operate large manual vertical boring mill, lathe drill press, and milling machines.
- Create ring grooves and ream holes.
- Check hole dimensions as required.
- Sharpen drill bits, remove shavings as needed, refill coolant tank as needed.
- Performs assigned tasks in a safe manner, avoiding all unsafe practices.
- Performs internal quality control of drilling procedures and associated record-keeping and documentation.
- Set up and perform jobs based on established shop procedures.
- Read and understand blueprint designs.
- Set up machinery for production.
- Lead and execute test runs.
- Work metal to create the blueprint design.
- Enter all relevant codes to specify the feed, speed and cut of any toolpath for the CNC.
- Inspect and verify finished product to ensure that it is within tolerance indicated on the fabrication drawings.
- Ensure safe operation by complying with safety rules and regulations.
- Ensure that the work area is kept clean.
- Performs daily maintenance to ensure that its performance is not compromised.
- Conduct daily safety checks and inspections of equipment.
- Knowledge of different metal grades.
- Knowledge of tube rolling, and bundle assembly would be considered an asset.
Qualifications:
- 2 + years of Heat Exchanger Machinist experience.
- Industrial fabrication, manufacturing, and construction experience.
- Applicable trade and safety certifications.
- Knowledge of Metals Grades including carbon steel grades, stainless steel grades, brass grades, Inconel grades, and titanium grades).
- Working knowledge and background in fabrication, manufacturing, and construction is essential.
- Proficient knowledge of industry best practices.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a high pressure and deadline driven environment.
- Ability to prioritize activities, adapt, and stay focused in a dynamic changing environment.
- Good computer skills are an asset.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively with all levels of staff.
