BCI's Technology team is looking for a Platform Engineer to own and grow our Atlassian ecosystem, Jira and Confluence, at the center of how our teams plan, build, and deliver. Based in either Victoria or Vancouver, you will work closely with delivery teams across the organization to configure, maintain, and continuously improve a platform our technologists rely on daily. The Platform Engineer is responsible for platform configuration, operations and support of the Atlassian suite of products (Jira and Confluence) and collaborates with business and technical stakeholders. The Platform Engineer is instrumental in the rollout, growth, and expansion of cloud-based platforms and drives the development and implementation of platform maturity roadmaps in an Agile hybrid environment. The Platform Engineer enables the effective and efficient delivery of high-quality products and services.
The Platform Engineer has Atlassian platform configuration, administration and integration expertise, and will support and troubleshoot platform issues; with potential to participate in an on-call rotation for business-critical needs.
Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Up to 5+ years of experience as a Platform Administrator, Platform Engineer, Developer or Software Engineer with responsibility for Atlassian platform configuration and operations
Experience configuring both on-premise and cloud-based environments
Experience with Agile (Lean, Kanban, or Scrum) and DevOps methods and practices
Experience working as part of a technical team to analyze complex problems, identify issues, and deliver effective and efficient solutions collaboratively
Experience with Atlassian administration, platform security, and access governance.
Foundational knowledge of one or more common programming languages and tools for scripting and automation (i.e., PowerShell, Python, etc.) and related technologies (i.e., Atlassian REST API, Model Context Protocol, SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, etc.)
Experience managing the Atlassian Marketplace app lifecycle, including app evaluation and license optimization.
Demonstrated proficiency using AI assistants and/or agentic tools to accelerate configuration, troubleshooting, and automation is an asset
Excellent customer-service, listening, communication and problem-solving skills
Exposure to the investment management industry is an asset
Leads the technical delivery and continuous improvement for the Atlassian platform on a regular sprint cadence as part of an Agile delivery team
Collaborates with development teams, team leads and managers, to establish and improve the Atlassian practices needed to effectively manage work and knowledge across the organization.
Leads the technical requirements for the Atlassian platform capabilities and supporting technologies and serves as the technical subject matter expert (SME)
Develops platform maturity roadmaps with an understanding of business objectives and technical needs and identifies opportunities for standardization, automation, and optimization
Designs, configures, and maintains platform capabilities and supporting technologies, services, and environments aligned with platform maturity roadmaps and based on best practices
Delivers projects and develops technical documentation and communications, ensuring that all project deliverables meet internal technology governance standards
Develops and implements platform standards and/or guidelines based on industry best-practices, communicates expectations to technical teams, and ensures that technical teams adhere to the established guidelines
Contributes to procurement processes including the development and evaluation of Requests for Proposals and provides operational oversight for external resources
Proactively identifies risks and issues, proposes solutions to remove barriers, and provides advanced levels of platform administration, troubleshooting, and remediation support
Creates and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Cultivates and shares knowledge with others through internal technical communities and artifacts to create a strong culture of team-based collaboration
Applies knowledge of Agile methods and continuously improves delivery performance through delivery reporting and tracking, backlog development and grooming, sprint or increment planning, and participating in retrospectives
Identifies, and drives AI-assisted workflows across the Atlassian platform team, using agentic tools and AI assistants to accelerate configuration, troubleshooting, and automation, with an understanding of AI workload requirements and their implications for platform operations
Undertakes special projects or assignments as required
Performs other related duties as required
DevOps: Demonstrated experience with Agile planning and software development platforms with working knowledge of the software development lifecycle. Professional certification or training is required in the Atlassian suite of products (Jira and Confluence), or similar.
Service Management: Demonstrated experience with service management platforms with working knowledge of Active Directory, System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM), and configuration management databases (CMDB). Professional certification or training in ITIL, ServiceNow, or similar is an asset.
This role can be based in either our Victoria or Vancouver office. Relocation support within Canada is available if needed. We are an in-person, collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely one day per week.
The annualized salary range for this role is CAD $106,000 to $128,000
BCI offers a competitive total rewards package, including a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and paid time off. We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we operate and with consideration for internal equity and job structure. The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and expertise.
