About the Role
Eco Abate Inc. is seeking a full-time Environmental Technologist. The purpose of the hire is to meet the needs of a variety of clients in a busy environment. Under the supervision of the management team, the Environmental Technologist will be trained to eventually handle the tasks and daily operations of assigned jobs. Candidates must be highly motivated self-starters who are willing to learn and work independently and as part of a team. We are a fast-growing company, so we are looking for someone committed to our standard of health and safety excellence to grow along with us. On-the-job training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Visually assessing buildings for various hazardous materials (including asbestos, lead, mercury, PCB, and ODS), collecting bulk samples of suspect materials for laboratory analysis, and developing hazardous materials reports and documentation.
- Providing project oversight during asbestos removal at client sites to assess employer compliance with OHS Act, Regulations and Code.
- Completing asbestos air monitoring and site inspections including analysis following the NIOSH 7400A method.
- Developing and executing exposure monitoring programs including air sampling and analysis consistent with the established project scope.
- Assisting in the development of hazardous materials management plans, safe work procedures, and scopes of work.
- Conducting other industrial hygiene consulting activities such as exposure monitoring, radon monitoring, indoor air quality monitoring, noise assessments, potable water testing, and turnaround support.
- Working with the Project Coordinators and Project Managers to understand site issues and project concerns at the earliest stage in the project.
- Interpreting and applying data results to regulatory requirements.
- Developing field, draft, and final reports for submission to the Project Manager.
- Calibrating and maintaining field sampling equipment as necessary.
- Performing project administration tasks such as invoicing and peer review of reports.
- Daily travel to sites in Calgary and occasional travel to and from site locations within Alberta.
- Work will require some on-call weekends and overtime dependent on project timelines which are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field; Environmental Sciences preferred.
- Appropriate knowledge of basic scientific principles.
- General experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative environment in both written and verbal situations.
- Ability to use a microscope.
- Organized and able to manage conflicting priorities effectively.
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules.
- Reliable personal vehicle with insurance required.
- Strong attention to detail, punctuality, and consistency in being a dependable teammate are key.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
