VICTORIA GENERAL - LABOUR AND DELIVERY UNIT
We are pleased to announce the launch of our first In-House Perinatal Nursing Training Cohort. This training opportunity will be offered twice annually.
The program is a full-time, intensive, blended learning experience delivered by our Perinatal Education team. It includes a combination of:
- Online learning modules
- Competency-based assessments
- Simulation activities
- Classroom instruction
- Supervised clinical experience
Participants will be paid for all time spent completing online coursework and clinical hours. The program is expected to take approximately 16 weeks to complete.
Once Completed you will receive the perinatal speciality nursing program certificate and qualify for qualification differential pay.
Please note: There is an 18-month return-of-service requirement as a regular/permanent employee within the Island Health specialty department for which the individual has been trained. Staff may move between Island Health departments within the same specialty. The post-basic training program requires full-time attendance. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant, with recent related medical and/or surgical experience. When applicants have completed this LDR Specialty Training they will be moved into a regular/temp position within the LDR department
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts, including co-workers, physicians, community agency representatives, patients, residents and families.
