ABOUT THE ROLE:
Position: Community Information Resource Specialist 18-month contract
Reports To: Supervisor, InfoPeel and Service Pathways
Work Hours: 35 hours/week (Monday- Friday occasional evenings and weekends, hybrid work model)
As part of the InfoPeel team, the Specialist will support clients requiring assistance or information related to early years, childcare, children and youth with special needs and respite supports.
WHAT THIS POSITION HAS TO OFFER:
Profile:
To provide community information, referral and resource coordination in compliance with service expectations and program service descriptions. Each Specialist is responsible for working across all programs with specific duties assigned to each.
Major Overall Responsibilities:
In compliance with CRS standards and expectations of funders:
- Provide individualized support (phone, chat, email, virtual and in-person information sessions) and consultation to facilitate access to relevant information, referral and resources in a timely, sensitive and confidential manner
- Information and Referral Services and Support in this role will be provided through inperson, phone, chat, online sessions including webinars, live sessions, and through other means that are effective practices and aligned with Inform USA standards (formerly AIRS)
- Provide accurate and comprehensive information on specific services in Peel
- Plan, organize and facilitate community outreach, information sessions and other relevant opportunities as identified by CDRCP to engage, connect and empower individuals and families
- Utilize relevant tools to provide customized information based on specific client needs with a commitment to the provision of services while demonstrating tact, cultural sensitivity and professionalism
- Comply with Inform USA standards (formerly AIRS) in relation to all information providing services
- Collect and record monthly stats around services provided for reporting purposes as requested by Manager, Executive Director or Delegate
- To work collaboratively across all programs within the InfoPeel and Service Pathways Department
- Gather and record information on shared online platforms and assist in using information for planning, development, evaluation and reporting to support program and organizational priorities
- Participate as a team player within the broader organization, offer support, provide peer training and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff, students and volunteers
- Collaborate in developing solutions to challenges and sharing relevant community resources with the team
- Actively participate in all staff meetings, committees and community meetings and events
- Source and recommend suggestions for new materials, services, digital delivery methods, marketing and distribution to identify gaps in information

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
The successful candidate will:
- Possess a degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education being registered with the College of ECE’s (in good standing is considered an asset) or possess a strong technical administration/Information Technology background and accompanying educational background with an interest in Early Years and Developmental Services.
- 3 years of related work experience in two or more areas including preschool, school age, licensed home childcare and/or early years services is an asset
- be strongly versed on special needs and developmental services within the Peel Region
- be capable of working with a variety of databases i.e. client and information based
- be a visionary thinker and demonstrate innovative practices
- possess knowledge of Information and Referral Services (I&R) and Informed USA would be an asset
- be committed to successful completion of CIRS Certification Exam within 2 years of employment
- be efficient at utilizing social media tools
- have the ability to facilitate workshops and presentations
- be knowledgeable and experienced working with persons with special needs
- have a strong IT skill set and the ability to keep up to date and effectively meet current technology needs
- produce a valid Vulnerable background check
- possess a valid Driver’s License, a safe driving record and access to independent transportation
- French or a second language is an asset
- be professional and positive
- demonstrate strong judgement
- be reliable and flexible.
