Position Overview
CCSS is seeking a reliable, compassionate, and safety-focused Bus Driver to transport youth, seniors, and community members to and from programs, outings, and special events. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with both older adults and youth and values creating a welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment.
The Bus Driver plays an important role in helping reduce social isolation and ensuring participants can safely access community programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a CCSS bus in accordance with all traffic laws and safety regulations and CCSS policies and procedures
- Transport seniors and program participants to scheduled activities and appointments
- Assist passengers boarding and exiting the vehicle, including those with mobility challenges
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the vehicle
- Communicate effectively with program staff regarding schedules and participant needs
- Respond calmly and appropriately in emergency situations
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid BC Class 4 (Unrestricted) Driver’s License
- Clean driving abstract
- Experience driving larger vehicles (bus or shuttle experience preferred)
- Experience working with seniors or vulnerable populations is an asset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Patience, empathy, and a friendly demeanor
- Ability to assist passengers with mobility needs
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
Working Conditions
- Part-time or casual hours (schedule may vary based on program needs)
- Local driving within North and West Vancouver and occasional trips to Vancouver
- Some lifting and assisting participants may be required
