Principal/Teacher (1.0 FTE) - Peace Christian Academy
Our Mission
Peace Christian Academy, operated by the Lakeland Christian Schools Society (LCSS), is seeking a dedicated, dynamic, and spiritually-grounded leader to serve as Principal/Teacher. The successful candidate will be a committed Christian, passionate about integrating faith and learning, and skilled in both educational leadership and classroom instruction. This role is central to advancing our mission to provide education rooted in Christian tradition and values under the governance of the LCSS Board.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Administration
- Reporting & Accountability: Report directly to the Head of Schools/Superintendent, serving as the key advisor in the academic leadership and day-to-day administrative management of Peace Christian Academy.
- Board Policy Implementation: Responsible for the effective implementation and adherence to all policies, regulations, and strategic directives established by the Lakeland Christian Schools Society Board.
- Instructional Leadership: Provide exemplary educational leadership by modeling best practices, overseeing curriculum implementation (aligned with the Alberta Program of Studies), and ensuring high standards for teaching and student achievement.
- Strategic Planning & Vision: Collaborate closely with the Head of Schools and Senior Leadership Team to develop and execute a visionary strategic plan focused on academic excellence, operational efficiency, and the expansion of school facilities and opportunities, consistent with the LCSS vision.
- Personnel Management: Be responsible for the effective supervision, mentorship, evaluation, and professional development of all teaching and support staff, ensuring staff conduct aligns with the Society's Statement of Faith and policies.
- Policy & Compliance: Oversee the day-to-day administrative management of the school, ensuring compliance with Alberta Education regulations, the School Act, and all relevant LCSS policies.
- Operational Management: Manage the school's resources, facility use, and scheduling in consultation with the Head of Schools.
- Community Relations: Act as a key liaison between the school administration and the parent community through the Student Council (SC), actively supporting school-wide marketing and fundraising initiatives as approved by the Board.
- Student Conduct: Establish and maintain high standards for student conduct and discipline, ensuring a safe, positive, and productive learning environment that promotes personal and spiritual growth.
Key Responsibilities: Teaching
- Classroom Instruction: Responsible for teaching a multi-grade classroom or specialized subject area, delivering engaging, appropriate, and differentiated lesson plans.
- Faith Integration: Intentionally integrate a Christian worldview and biblical truth into all aspects of the curriculum and classroom management, in alignment with the LCSS Statement of Faith.
- Assessment & Documentation: Conduct regular and thorough evaluation, assessment, and documentation of student progress, maintaining accurate academic records.
- Positive Environment: Create a safe, positive, and productive environment favorable to learning, fostering effective rapport with students, and motivating them to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge necessary for a strong foundation of education.
- Collaboration: Participate actively in professional learning communities and team-teach with colleagues.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education Certification: A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or eligibility for one.
- Leadership Certification: Meet the requirements for the Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) Certificate or eligibility for one.
- Christian Commitment (Essential bona fide requirement):
- A committed, practicing Christian whose daily life is consistent with biblical principles.
- A strong, personal belief in and agreement with the Lakeland Christian Schools Society's Statement of Faith (which will be provided upon request).
- Must be willing to sign a Statement of Personal Conduct affirming a lifestyle and conduct consistent with the Society's religious mission.

- Strong working knowledge of the Alberta Program of Studies and current pedagogical research.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Valid First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe).
- Valid Alberta Driver's License (or willingness to obtain).
- Successful completion of a current Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check (required upon hire).
