Working toward the total operation of a concrete plant including the supervision concrete mixer drivers and plant maintenance to ensure delivery of quality product, timely delivery and customer satisfaction. The Plant Operator in Training starts at the bottom learning every aspect of the operation. Mop, sweep, shovel, grease, plant and office housekeeping.
Supporting multiple Amrize plants across the NCR, the Plant Operator position is an excellent development opportunity for a self-motivated individual looking for a role with growth potential.
As a member of the Plant Team, the Plant Operator reports directly to the Area Manager.
Under the direction of the Area Manager, the Plant Operator will be required to assist in ensuring the organized and efficient operation of plant & yard.
The Plant Operator will work closely with the plant team to provide exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, ensuring a safe work environment, meeting quality requirements and fulfilling production schedules.
Qualification Profile – Education & Work Experience:
The successful candidate should be ready and willing to take ownership of housekeeping of the yard and facilities.
The successful candidate will also be very responsible, reliable and flexible.
Good written & verbal communication skills, strong computer skills, and a self motivated would also be an asset.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
1. Production:
The Plant operator is responsible for fulfilling customer ready mixed concrete orders. Automated batching & shipping of concrete constitutes the bulk of the daily responsibility. Housekeeping and routine maintenance are a crucial part of this role.
2. Safety Culture:
Amrize Canada Inc. promotes a safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC and subcontractors with an objective of “zero” safety incidents. The successful candidate will be required to administer, promote and follow safety policies, processes & procedures to maintain relevance while ensuring the site meets or exceeds all Amrize Canada and Regulatory guidelines.
3. Operations:
Under the direction of the Area Manager, the Plant Operator must operate the plant in accordance with Health and Safety policies. Ensure plant operation in accordance with established company guidelines, programs and procedures.
4. Quality Assurance:
The Plant Operator is required to batch concrete as ordered and specified by the customer. Periodically, some assistance in testing of concrete may be required.
5. Materials Management:
Ordering of all raw materials for the production of concrete.
6. Management:
As a member of the Operations Management team the Plant Operator may, from time to time, be required to supervise and direct employees in all aspects of operating the yards.
7. Maintenance and Repair:
Working in parallel with the Maintenance Department, the Plant Operator is to notify maintenance of plant breakdowns and communicate any suspected pending problems.
8. Reporting:
Ensure that all reporting is completed according to required deadlines.

Salary: $22.00-$30.00 per hour based on experience.
