The SAP S/4HANA Upgrade Project Manager will be responsible for planning and executing the upgrade of an existing SAP S/4HANA system to a target 2025 release. The role ensures delivery on time, within scope, and in compliance with governance and regulatory requirements, while coordinating stakeholders and ensuring business continuity.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations
- Establish and maintain RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies)
- Ensure compliance with SAP Activate methodology and internal governance frameworks
- Oversee all phases of the upgrade lifecycle (preparation, sandbox testing, development, QA, production cutover)
- Coordinate integrated testing (validation, regression, performance)
- Manage change control processes and ensure business continuity
- Act as the primary liaison between IT, business teams, SAP consultants, and vendors
- Provide regular status updates and executive reporting
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
- Lead change management, training, and documentation readiness
- Support user adoption and post-upgrade stabilization
Qualifications & Skills
- 10+ years of SAP Project Management experience
- Proven track record in SAP S/4HANA upgrade projects
- Experience in regulated environments (pharma, biotech, life sciences preferred)
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification
- SAP certifications (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of SAP Activate methodology
- Expertise in Supply Chain and Manufacturing domains
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience managing multi-vendor and global programs
- Understanding of SAP architecture and BASIS activities
- Experience with complex integrations and custom code remediation
- Ability to lead large-scale testing and cutover activities
