Position Summary
We are seeking a friendly and customer-focused Retail Clerk to join our team. In this role, you will support daily store operations by assisting customers, preparing and packaging seafood orders, maintaining product displays, and ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming shopping environment.
The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service while maintaining high standards of food safety, product quality, and store presentation. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers, learning about seafood products, and contributing to a fast-paced team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional, and knowledgeable manner
- Provide product information, including seafood preparation, storage, and handling recommendations
- Prepare, package, and label customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Maintain attractive product displays by rotating and replenishing seafood products to ensure freshness and quality
- Operate the cash register and process customer transactions accurately
- Assist with inventory checks, stocking, and product organization
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation duties to maintain food safety standards
- Follow company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to achieve customer service and sales goals
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Core Competencies
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Previous retail, food service, or customer-facing experience is considered an asset
- Knowledge of seafood products is an asset; willingness to learn is required
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable, punctual, and professional work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequent bending, crouching, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in cold storage and wet environments
- Ability to handle seafood products, including potential allergens
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Compensation & Benefits
- Commission program based on personal sales performance
- Additional benefits provided in accordance with company policy
Pay: $16.75 per hour
