Responsibilities
- Exhibit a solid working knowledge of all YMCA programs and services.
- Exhibit a solid working knowledge of and comply with all YMCA emergency procedures and human resource policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook – YMCA of Fredericton.
- Follow all Child Protection policies and procedures as outlined in the YMCA of Fredericton Child Protection and Vulnerable Persons Policy.
- Attend all in-service training sessions/meetings in order to develop a solid working knowledge of YMCA to share with members, visitors and staff (ie Y Way standards, vision, mission and values).
- Dress in department appropriateYMCA attire.
- Display and demonstrate appropriate and professional conduct at all times.
- Find replacement for shift coverage and submit the request for shift change; however, maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Submit questions or concerns about the workplace to the YMCA of Fredericton Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Maintain front line delivery presence and excellence in daily operational issues relating to membership sales and services.
- Meet, greet and answer all member/potential member questions in a friendly and welcoming manner.
- Facilitate membership and program registrations.
- Participate in membership sales strategies that support the recruitment of new members and the retention of existing members (eg. making phone calls, helping members through the welcome desk, helping members that have reached out through emails, being able to talk about the current promotions that we are offering, facility tours, etc).
- Perform light cleaning and organization duties as required to keep the work area and facility clean.
- Assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Welcome Desk when needed.
- Provide training, guidance and support to all employees.
- Handling of member and guests concerns with a positive outcome, to the best of their ability.
- Handling of member relations and resolving issues efficiently and effectively.
- Assisting in performance evaluations, and development by sharing what they have noticed and any coaching they would have completed with any/all individuals.
- Contributing to strategic planning and goal achievement.
- Be able to follow all procedures and policies and lead by following the shadow of a Leader practices.
- Communicate effectively to the team and members.
- Be the support for the Manager of Membership Services and be able to step in when the Manager is on vacation/away.
- Working 2 shifts a week at Y North.
- Working on Specialty Projects for Membership.
- Monthly tracking of the participant counts.
- Invoicing support.
- Follow up on monthly first aid kit tracking.
- Assists with member concerns to help address any issues with accounts and payments.
- Assist with membership recovery initiatives.
- Communicating with members on the following: Birthday Party reminders, Updates on Accounts, Invite email to past members that have cancelled, Verifications for all Online Accounts, Welcome emails sent to all online memberships.
Skills & Qualifications
- Min. 19 years of age.
- Workplace Standard First aid is an asset.
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification is an asset.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, and relationship building skills; ability to establish a rapport with members, staff, and volunteers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with members, staff and volunteers.
- Organizational skills.
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
- Flexibility regarding assigned hours of work - evening and weekends and holidays.
