Position Summary
Reporting to the President & CEO, the VP of Flight Operations is responsible for planning, directing and implementing the organization’s policies, strategic objectives, and both operational and commercial initiatives, ensuring the safe, compliant and reliable operation of the airline. This role encompasses all elements of airline operations, operational readiness, safety initiatives, customer service and the ongoing, day-to-day management of the organization’s business model to ensure maximum productivity and efficiencies while upholding the mission and values established by Perimeter Aviation LP.
The individual will demonstrate and provide leadership in developing a strong and dynamic corporate culture, customer understanding, competitive knowledge, and market trends to identify, create, develop, qualify and attract new business opportunities that achieve or exceed financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Primary
- Act as the Transport Canada Operations Manager for the company.
- Develop and implement new business strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to improve flight operational performance - ensuring that strategic plans are aligned with operational and fiscal goals.
- Communicate and facilitate key information to departments and business units in respect to operations, human resources, competitive environment, cost management, and other areas.
- Control a financial budget with support from the Executive team for managing project budgets, forecasts and long-term financial plans; ensure corporate adherence to annual budgets.
- Manage and evaluate subordinate managers and departmental performance against goals to ensure that progress is being made and take corrective action as necessary.
- Foster the development and collaboration between departments, business units and other internal groups, ensuring an integrated approach to operations and fulfilling the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Lead and support program development, work culture enhancement, consensus-building and internal communications pertaining to effective operation of the business.
- Meet regularly with department heads/business unit leaders; facilitate resolution of issues/problems between business units and/or departments, ensuring proper reporting structure within and between all business units and/or departments.
- Available to fly two scheduled days per month, or as operationally required.
Secondary
- Improve financial operating performance through increased reliability, resulting in surpassing business revenue sales targets, profit margins and cashflow.
- Oversee business partnerships, including liaising with local airport authorities.
- Input and assist, if applicable, in raising additional capital to enable the airline to meet growth and market share targets.
- Achieve improved efficiencies through the implementation of new tools and technologies and ensure that the cost efficiency plans are driven.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations as specified by domestic and international regulatory agencies.
- Work with the President and executive management team to ensure compliance with all financial controls utilized by the company’s parent, Exchange Income Corporation.
- Work with the executive team to develop corporate and business level tactics and to communicate key positioning and performance metrics to financial and strategic constituencies.
- Track and review financial forecasts and budgets, compare actual results and monitor business performance and compliance.
- Build financial models to validate the costs/benefits of existing practices, considering budget, organizational impact and financial reward.
- Conduct due diligence on corporate capabilities, distribution/marketing channels and strengths and weaknesses to provide strategic insights and recommendations.
- Use sound financial and market analysis to build a case and make recommendations for taking a strategic position regarding sales, operations, finance, product development and executive audiences.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist and step in for department as required.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
- Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant professional experience within a large airline organization in progressively more responsible positions
- 6+ years of progressive managerial experience at the department director/manager level
- Able to hold or be delegated the Operations Manager role in a 705 Airline
- Current ATPL, Multi, IFR and Class I Medical
- Metro II/III PPCs, Dash 8 PPC/LOFT(Sim) is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to manage key constituent relationships, including Finance, Legal, Human Resources and Transport Canada
- A clear and solid understanding of personnel policies, practices and procedures, and other operational issues faced by the organization
- Strong knowledge of fiscal management and responsibility, business finance, capital funding, contracts and partnerships
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution and people management skills
- Experience creating and managing budgets for a large, distributed organization
- Knowledge of airline industry, specifically with regard to flight operations techniques, procedures and regulations (TC, ICAO, FAA, etc.)
- Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high attention to detail and meeting strict deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; additional language skills would be an asset
