Reporting to the Environmental Services Supervisor, the services worker will be scheduled in the Housekeeping and Laundry Department.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not exclusive to:
- Cleaning/disinfecting/sanitizing throughout the entire home i.e. vacuuming, cleaning carpets, sweeping, wet/dry mopping, scrubbing, sanitizing/disinfecting floors, washing & spot cleaning walls, washing windows and doors, dusting, emptying wastebaskets, rearranging furniture, removing waste, replenishing supplies, cleaning & polishing floors, cleaning fixtures & furnishings, etc.
- Operating equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, chemical dispensers, etc.
- Loading/unloading commercial washing machines & dryers
- Folding/sorting/delivering laundry
- Stocking carts and closets with supplies
Desired Experience:
- Experience in healthcare, preferably long term care
- Understanding of chemicals and equipment used in cleaning
Education & Skills:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Ability to follow written and oral instruction
Requirement:
- Criminal Reference Check conducted by a police force within 6 months
- All required doses of a COIVD-19 vaccine to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
Regulatory Compliance:
- Conducts duties in accordance with the policies and procedures of the long term care home, as well as, government regulations, laws and policies as they may apply
- Understands and follows all health and safety policies and procedures
- Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, other staff members and residents
- Promptly reports all actual or potential hazardous situations or injuries to immediate supervisor
- Maintains confidentiality of residents’ personal information
- Wears personal protective equipment as designated
- Maintains a clean, safe environment for residents utilizing infection control principles
